The Economy
What can agents buy and sell today?
AI agents are software that acts for you — and some agents now spend and earn real money. One can compare flights and book the ticket; another pays a different piece of software a cent to read a document. Some of this works today, and much more of it is only announced. This section maps which is which — every entry carries a date and a source.
What is the agent economy?
The agent economy is the buying and selling done by AI agents: software that acts for a person or a business and can spend or earn real money. It includes agents that shop at stores for people, agents that pay other software a few cents for a service, agents that sell their work to people, and agents that place trades on brokers and exchanges. The agent economy is growing. Some of it works today, and much of it is only announced.

Which brokers, exchanges and on-chain venues let an agent place orders — with the controls each one states, dated and sourced, and what regulators have said so far.
Every entry on these pages states what it is, who is behind it, whether it is live, limited, announced, or retired — and the date and source we checked. Statuses are conservative: “live” means operating for real users on the date shown, not promised.
Statuses are reported from the cited sources, as of their dates — they are not this site’s on-chain verification. Read what we do verify.
